Four contractors have been selected to deliver major highways and civil engineering work across the Midlands.

Balfour Beatty, Eurovia, Galliford Try and Morgan Sindall are now set to share a £500m work pipeline under the revamped Midlands Highway Alliance Medium Schemes Framework 3.

The new framework, which is to be used by 21 local authorities across the region, replaces the two lot set-up covering £5m-£25m and smaller work packages up to £5m merged into a single workstream.

This £200m programme over four years to June 2018 was shared between six major contractors: Aggregate Industries, Balfour Beatty, Eurovia, Galliford Try and a Tarmac/Carillion joint venture.

Earlier this year twenty contractors initially expressed an interest in bidding for the contract. Eight contractors were invited to tender with documents being returned at the end of April.

Mark Kemp, Chair of MSF3 Steering Group, said: “We received high quality submissions from all the contractors, which, together with increased levels of investment by local authorities, will drive further successful delivery of infrastructure projects across the region.”
