Quantity Surveyor – £50,000 – £70,000 – Essex

A quantity surveyor is urgently required for a highly successful contractor, the project is an affordable housing development in an £80m project in Essex.

The role will be:

• Maximising the value and quality of the project while keeping at minimal cost.
• Preparing liability schedules to present to the commercial director.
• Supporting the management of the PQS relationship.
• Making enquires of sub-contractors including the schedules of the take-offs and preparing the bid analysis.
• Arranging sub-contractors terms and conditions with the commercial director, making sure all the terms are back-to-back with the main contract.
• Leading pre-commencement sub-contractor meeting and preparing in conjunction with the project director.
• Placing the sub-contractors and material orders including confirmation of price and the delivery date in conjunction with the project team.
• Draft and issue all contract correspondence.
• Ensure all contract variations are properly documented and identified.

To apply for this role you need to have 3 years’ experience in the industry also you will need financial management experience, excellent problem solving skills, excellent communication skills and to negotiate effectively, you will need to be able to absorb complex information, a clear understanding of standard building contracts, you need to be professional – well presented – reliable – punctual and responsible, good working knowledge of word and excel as a minimum and a sound understanding of building technology and ability to read and understand construction drawings/specifications.
