A Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Contracts Director to manage projects Internationally. 

Reporting to the Civil Engineering Director the successful candidate will be responsible for the day tot day running of the international business, leading current live projects as well as planning, and developing for future works whilst maintaining a good client relationship.
Works will consist of civil Infrastructure, structures, earthworks, drainage and roads valued up to c£50m, your be responsible for multiple schemes at anyone times which could be across different countries, so travel is essential.

Principal Duties & Accountabilities

  • Establish the Project Execution Plan and set up the project organisation for its implementation
  • Create and develop successful project teams.
  • Manage, supervise, train and mentor the project team to enable them to optimise their work contribution
  • Set targets to measure performance, and drive continuous improvement
  • Deliver performance in accordance with targets and procedures
  • Manage the process in a manner which enhances the reputation of the company and increases prospects for future work.
  • Develop potential future work opportunities through relationships with clients, suppliers and members of the construction community.
  • Keep abreast of developments in professional field
  • Implement an improvement process on the project to identify best practice, implement improvements, gather and feedback knowledge and inform the team how knowledge may be accessed.
  • Taking responsibility and initiative in the smooth running of the business operations.
  • Understanding how different countries operate in regards to people, operations, currency, unions and legislation.
  • Managing and marshalling resources to ensure they are fit for purpose and have sufficient capacity to meet the project delivery requirements.
  • Creating a Business Sector strategic plan which ensures resource availability and complies with and enhances the long term business plan.
  • Providing effective team management, including overseeing project completion timelines, monitoring project costs, and ensuring client needs are met.
  • Ensuring all operational procedures are adhered to and attention to health and safety matters is a priority for all staff and agents and contractors.
  • Liaising with other departments and directors, including commercial and finance, to ensure all objectives are met and the overall business performance is optimal.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, potential clients and third-parties including suppliers.
  • Providing outstanding leadership to team members, including taking opportunities for coaching and development, to maximise work output and work quality of staff.
  • Reporting regularly to the Operations Director on appropriate issues related to project delivery, performance, project risk, market and industry trends and competitors,
  • Providing direct input to risk register and ensure that it is regularly updated.
  • Cooperating with the Commercial Director and his team and assist in the development of pricing and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Cooperating with the Commercial Director and his team as appropriate to ensure full capture of contractor/ client variations or changes in project scope.
  • Providing support and input into the development of the project pipeline and order book, actively participate in bid/no bid decisions and ensure resource availability to meet demands.
  • Cooperating with the Commercial Director and his team to provide input to bids and proposals as appropriate to ensure that project delivery plans are optimal.
  • Participating fully in project handover ensuring that project risks, project upsides and the commercial agreements are fully understood and take responsibility for successful project delivery.
  • Developing and maintaining project archival systems to ensure all relevant project data and information is captured and retained for an appropriate period of time.
  • Ensuring all project delivery activities are performed in an ethical manner while maintaining a competitive position.
  • Maintaining awareness of relevant current business issues and keep abreast of all changes in the sector including legal, technical and contractual trends.
  • Taking opportunities as they arise to advance your continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Espousing and demonstrating by personal actions the core values of the company.
