We are looking for a Graduate engineer looking to work within Oxfordshire and the South East region  with a highly regarded main contractor on multiple schemes throughout the area.

Predominantly dealing with capital Highways Maintenance Schemes, CDM Highway Defects and Planning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and completion of defects on the network and, will also support all operational aspects of the maintenance contract.  There will be an element of engineering works involved so an engineering degree would be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  •  Categorised defects on a number of schemes and determine the works and materials needed to complete the works successfully.
  • Work closely with the planning team in order for the works are carried out using the correctly whilst minimising cost.
  • Work along side the Works Managers and Foreman checking on stock of material and order if required, keeping up to date and accurate records.
  • To identify and allocate resources both internally and externally to carry out defect works in in line with with the planning team.
  • Understand the constraints, logistics and any site-specific requirements which will impact the defect completion.
  • Actively involved in development of  programmes for defect works that are be discussed with client and carried out.
  • To book all road space required for the defect completion using inhouse systems.
  • Attend monthly meeting with client to discuss delivery of defects.
  • Liaise with LA and Police as required to obtain consents for works
  • Liaise with internal units and external TM teams to deliver the works when and where required.
  • Allocating and closing defects on an internal works order management system.
  • working with the Senior Engineer and Scheduler on major works schemes as and when required.
  • To build strong working relationship with client and partners

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be well organised and able to prioritise work loads efficiently
  • Able to organise programmes of work to deadlines, so time management is key
  • Qualification in highway construction or civil engineering
  • Previous experience in defect rectification
  • A good understanding of traffic management to chapter 8 standards
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Word and SharePoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The role will come with a company vehicle and you must have a full clean driving licence, with min 2 years highway maintenance experience.
