We are looking for an exceptional SHEQ Manager with solid Rail experience to become an integral and vital part of the business

This role will involve:

  • Leading the H&S Team to proactively develop and implement the project health, safety and wellbeing strategy
  • Proactively promote H&S best practice throughout the project and established accident & incident prevention strategies throughout the managerial/supervisory/workforce levels (including contractors) across the project.
  • Work with the managerial/supervisory teams across the project in the implementation of H&S standards and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the Railway Safety Certification & Principal Contractors / Rail Plant Company Operating licenses, ISO standards, current applicable legislation and other client requirements.
  • Provide professional health and safety advice, coaching, mentoring, training and education to management/supervisors/H&S team/workforce and contractors where identified as necessary.
  • Lead and support accident and incident investigations and in conjunction with managerial and supervisory staff, manage and close out all associated investigation recommendations and remedial actions arising from accident & incident investigations. In addition, assist in the management of formal investigation recommendations and remedial actions as directed.

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.  Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role. The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:

  • Proven experience in Health and Safety role (minimum of 5 years’ experience).
  • Previous experience in managing a team.
  • Degree (or equivalent) qualified in health and safety with chartered membership of IOSH (CIMIOSH)
  • Have working knowledge of both rail and civil engineering interfaces and practices.
  • Previous experience of working in the rail industry are an essential requirement along with the possession of a PTS (minimum 5 years’ experience in the rail industry)
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload.
