Quantity Surveyor

We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work for a large residential developer in London.  The company are currently picking up more work and due to an increase in work load they are looking at expanding their commercial team. They have a variety of projects coming up at present that incorporate houses, flats and also have other aspects including play areas, health centres and schools.

Duties in the role include:

• Produce sub-contractor tender list for agreement with Building Manager/Commercial Manager
• Produce enquiries for competitive tendering of at least 6 subcontractors
• Comparison of a minimum of 4 tenders against budget allowance
• Negotiation of lump sum orders to be placed in line with programme requirements
• Issue of formal orders
• Ensure order progress sheets are updated weekly
• Pre-start meetings as required on site with Site Manager, Building Manager or Commercial Manager where necessary
• Agree stage payment schedules with sub-contractor
• Make site visits weekly to verify stage payments and measured works
• Produce monthly cost report containing all known and foreseeable sub-contract and material against budget
• Negotiation of Final Accounts with sub-contractors as soon after completion of project as possible
• Attend Site Management Meetings when required
• Monitor plant use on site
• Monitor building progress on site to ensure on programme
• Produce cost reports, bond report and order status with progress for board meeting
• Estimating experience
