Quantity Surveyor – Rail

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a major rail contractor who are looking for a QS to be based in their South Yorkshire offices working on a number of high profile rail contracts up to the value of £10m. Projects will be on a NEC cost reimbursable contract, although the ideal candidate will have previous experience of using Target Cost and NR12 forms of contract.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree Qualified in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management or similar
• Previous experience working for a main contractor on rail based projects
• At least 4 years post graduate experience progressing from Assistant level
• Understanding of NEC forms of contract, and ideally Cost Reimbursable

Key duties will include: 

• Monitor, review, analyse and report on all contract costs for allocated projects
• Prepare monthly reconciliations of contract performance on a contract by contract basis.
• Management of subcontractors.
• Prepare client applications for payment and associated reporting.
• Carry out pricing of variation orders/change requests.
• Prepare interim and final accounts.
• Compare actual costs against planned programme, report and investigate variances.
• Assist with tender preparation and negotiation
