Salary: £110,000 + benefits DOE

We are currently looking for a experienced Senior Commercial Manager with previous experience of running major projects with values up to £250m, working for main civil engineering contractors. This project is part of a wider area redevelopment which will include the construction of 10,000 new homes.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree Qualified in Quantity Surveying
  • At least five years experience at Commercial Manager level
  • Previous main contractor experience working on major rail projects
  • Experience managing high profile client such as Network Rail and TFL
  • Experienced with multiple forms of contract including NEC (various options) NR, ICC, Target Cost etc.
  • Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Desirable)

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for managing a large commercial team of Quantity Surveyors of all levels.
  • Reporting into the Commercial Director of the Rail business
  • nderstand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record change etc. Ensure all required notices are issued in a timely manner.
  • Identify unacceptable terms and conditions and negotiate contracts with clients and employers
  • Identify unacceptable wording in bonds, warranties and other guarantees
  • Liaise with the customer, his representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues, including the agreement of additional monies.
  • Cost management for project
  • Understand allowances for elements of work (Preliminaries, materials, subcontract etc.)
  • Understanding of cost to end of reporting period and comparison with allowance
  • Understand forecast cost to completion
  • Establish and use cost management systems
  • Value management for project
  • Prepare interim and final account and ensure payment
  • Understanding of true value to end of reporting period and comparison with actual cost expended
  • Understanding of forecast final value at completion
  • Change management for project
