SHEQ Manager – Corsham, Wiltshire – £45-£55k+pkg + company car

Projects: Network Rail Station Upgrades and Bridges

Due to continued growth a Main Contractor with over a £1.8bn turnover, has an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to join them on one of their exciting Rail projects in Corsham and surrounding towns from £4m-£55m mainly Station Upgrades and also Bridges.

This role is also suitable for a SHEQ Advisor with 5 years experience looking to make a step up to a Management Role.

This Health & Safety role within the site team offers the opportunity to stretch your potential with excellent career development and job satisfaction. Working with the Project teams, you will ensure the highest standards of health & safety are met on Project sites. The Health & Safety Manager will provide appropriate information, support, assurance and challenge to Project teams to help achieve requirements and drive continual improvement.

Key Duties:

  • Develop of plans and process to support delivery of work on Network Rail infrastructure.
  • Support Contractor with the development of its relationship with Network Rail.
  • Assist in management of Network Rail standards; review, interpretation and dissemination.
  • Assist in maintenance of Contractor Principal Contractor’s licence.
  • Suggest methods and aids to promote awareness of injury prevention initiatives.
  • Carry out inspections and audits in conjunction with appropriate management to ensure Company, Client and legislative requirements are being met.
  • Assist with the implementation of the behavioural based safety programme.
  • Investigate close call, near miss and other incidents on Project sites.
  • Identify training needs.
  • Collate information for monthly reporting to the Client and Head office.
  • Prepare information to assist the Project team in identifying trends and prepare information for use on Project notice boards.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest wherever possible and if one arises promptly take appropriate steps to manage it.
  • Cooperate fully with IOSH and abide by its Charter, Byelaws and Regulations.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (essential)
  • Previous experience of health & safety management within a civil engineering environment in the UK (essential)
  • Ideally CMIOSH (not essential)
  • Network Rail project experience (desirable)
