Due to consistent growth a Major Main Contractor are currently looking for a Proposals Engineer to expanding their Bid/Proposals Team. Initially to start as a Bid Writer whilst being trained up and quickly progressing to a Bid Manager. The Proposals Engineer will want to be ambitious and comfortable working in an office based role. Predominantly working on Highways Schemes up to £50m but also other Civil Infrastructure Projects from £10m-£100m in all sectors.

You will be working in part of a large team of over 80 people working with the Estimators, Planners, Bid Managers and Operational Support. |

Skills Needed for this Role:
This role would suit a Section or Senior Engineer looking to move into Bid Management with experience of people management whether subcontractors or other staff. Or an experience Bid Writer or in a similar role working for a Construction or Civil Engineering Main/Sub Contractor. |

Responsibilities |
- Review and understand client tender documentation, developing and providing tender briefing summaries;
- Lead storyboarding sessions and identify USPs and CVPs;
- Independently produce high quality and well-structured client focused submissions for PQQs, tenders and frameworks;
- Independently develop methodologies, risk controls and value engineering etc, working with technical support when required;
- Write Case Studies and Project Reports;
- Proof read and edit the work of others;
- Research and collate information for use as evidence;
- Attend and actively contribute to tender meetings, taking a leading role where appropriate;
- Attend client meetings / interviews and lead where appropriate;
- Oversee submission of tenders from receipt to upload;
- Independent analysis and assessment of client feedback;
- Update and develop the knowledge management database;
- Independently attend site visits for tenders & to obtain evidence.

Knowledge skills & experience |
- Degree level standard or equivalent preffered;
- Professional qualification preferable;
- Experience working in proposals and experience in engineering or construction related roles preferable;
- Bid writing and management training;
- Writing, editing and proof reading submissions, including working on major tenders and framework submissions;
- Working on multiple concurrent tenders and managing own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved;
- Actively participating in and leading tender meetings.

- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the bid process, from the pre-tender stage, through tendering and into construction;
- Strong writing skills and ability to independently develop and structure clear and persuasive submissions
- Strong editing and proof reading skills;
- Competent using Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat;
- Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills;
- Sound technical (construction) knowledge;
- Able to analyse and organise large amounts of information;
- Able to contribute to and take a leading role in tender meetings;
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people at all levels, including clients, both verbally and in writing;
- Able to independently manage tenders through the bid process.
